আবার শ্রাবণ হয়ে এলে ফিরে,

          মেঘ-আঁচলে নিলে ঘিরে॥

সূর্য হারায়, হারায় তারা   আঁধারে পথ হয়-যে হারা,
          ঢেউ দিয়েছে নদীর নীরে॥
সকল আকাশ, সকল ধরা   বর্ষণেরই-বাণী-ভরা।
ঝরো ঝরো ধারায় মাতি   বাজে আমার আঁধার রাতি,
          বাজে আমার শিরে শিরে॥

Surjo haaraya, haaraya taara aadhare path hoy je haara,
Dheu dieche nadir nire.
Sakol aakas, sakol dhara  barsoneri bani bhara.
Jharo jharo dharaya mati baje aamar aadhar rati,
Baaje aamar sire sire.

Thou hast come again to me in the burst of a sudden storm,
Filling my sky with the shudder of thy shadowy clouds.
The sun is hidden, the stars are lost;
The red line of the road is merged in the mist of the rain;
The wail of the wind comes across the water.
Fitful showers, like ghastly fingers, strike the chords of some unseen harp,
Waking up the music of the dark,
Sweeping my heart with a shiver of sounds.
